Conoco Gasoline Metal Sign. The distinctive red triangle Conoco logo is actually a combination of two previous company logos. In 1929, Marland Oil Company, whose logo consisted of the red triangle with "Marland Oils" in the cross bar, acquired by merger the Continental Oil Company. Following the merger, the new company kept the more recognizable name of the Continental Oil Company and replaced the Marland name with "Conoco" in the crossbar.
